A Licensed Home Services Placement Agency
Hello, I’m Michele Running, Director of your local Griswold Home Care office in Lake and Northeast Cook County, Illinois. Personally, I have been married for over 20 years and have 3 biological daughters, and one adopted son. My husband and I have been doing foster care since 1999 and have cared for over 20 foster children ranging in age from 2 weeks to 18 years. Professionally, I spent 10 years as a vocational counselor and medical case manager in the insurance industry before I joined Griswold Home Care. I was drawn to the home care industry after I witnessed the difficulty that my grandmother had arranging affordable and quality elder care when she needed it. I am proud to now work for a company that helps the elderly and disabled members of my community remain safe, independent and well cared for in their homes as they age.
Meet the other members of our office:
Kathy Guzman, Office Manager, has experience with Anger Management and Coping/Adjustment Support Groups for nursing home residents who suffered mental illness. She spent 5 years as the Social Services Director/Abuse Neglect Prohibition Coordinator in a skilled nursing facility. Kathy has always enjoyed the company of seniors and providing senior care, as they have so much to share. Kathy continues to be an advocate for seniors and assist the elderly in her community by organizing outreach programs aimed to enhance the quality of life for nursing home residents. She has volunteered through an interfaith outreach agency to support and provide assistance to low income seniors in the community and for a drop-in center for Homeless adults.
Michelle Zenner, Referral Specialist, worked as a Community Coordinator for the prevention and intervention of drug and alcohol abuse, before taking time off to start a family. Once her children began school full time, she went back to work as a substitute teacher. Michelle taught for eleven years including filling in for teachers on maternity leave. After an enjoyable experience teaching, she decided it was time for a change. She wanted to explore something equally as fulfilling and found herself joining the Griswold Home Care family.
Kalli Running is a 2016 graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health. She is passionate about the environment and helping people. She spent her last summer in college volunteering in Tanzania building a new school within the local community. She has worked with Griswold Home Care since high school, and during breaks throughout college. Kalli’s responsibilities include recruiting, screening, and vetting qualified caregivers; maintaining client and caregiver files to meet all Illinois Department of Public Health, Department of Labor, and internal quality and compliance standards; migration to a new computer software system, and general administrative duties.
Hailey Running is a student at the University of Kansas studying Health Information Systems. She has been involved in the family business since it’s inception in 2002. She started out cleaning the office, filing, and assembling brochures and information packets. She currently works full time in the office during school breaks and holidays, and works remotely during the school year. She is involved with scheduling, file maintenance, accounting, and general office organization.
Griswold Home Care Offices are licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health as Home Services Placement Agencies and by the Illinois Department of Labor as Private Employment Agencies. Offices do not set rates for the screened caregivers they refer. As general information, however, Griswold Home Care periodically conducts market surveys in the area that the Office serves to ascertain typical market rates that caregivers charge, and makes that information available to all parties. Only caregivers who have passed Griswold Home Care’s rigorous and proprietary background screening system are eligible for client referrals.
