All you need for this game is a deck of cards. It’s a quick and easy way to improve your memory. Remove all the diamonds, hearts, and face cards. You will have 20 cards left. Shuffle the remaining cards and turn cards face down. Turn 2 cards over at a time and try to match numbers. You will have to remember where certain cards were as you play. Each time you have a match, set it aside and continue. You may want to set a timer to see how quickly you can complete a round.

Puzzles:

  • Do a crossword puzzle or put a jigsaw puzzle together. Crossword puzzles range from beginners to more challenging puzzles. The goal is to advance from one level to the next as you improve your word building skills.
  • Jigsaw puzzles stimulate the mind and memory as you put them together. A bonus is the result after you complete the puzzle. You can frame your work and hang it on your wall.

Board Games:

Board games such as Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, Chess, and Checkers are great games for memory and concentration. Board games also encourage socialization, which can improve cognitive function, and boost self-esteem.
