Respite Care Services

Providing Family Caregivers the Break They Need

Caring for an elderly, disabled, injured or ill loved one is a heroic act, but a responsibility that can be quite burdensome and which deserves a break from time to time. That is why Griswold Home Care connects clients with professional caregivers to assist with all their non-medical homecare needs. This type of care is designed to help the family caregiver recover from the physical and emotional burnout of providing care while helping to re-connect them to the more traditional roles of a relationship. Caring for someone else can be quite overwhelming. Everyone needs time to recover and to focus on their own well-being with the guilt. Respite care services are designed to give one a much-needed break from caregiving.

Respite care can be scheduled for a few hours a day or week to overnight care if the demands are greater. Everyday non-medical services that a caregiver can help with include:

  • Assistance with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and hygiene

  • Preparing meals

  • Accompanying clients to the grocery store or doctor’s appointments

  • Assistance with running errands

  • Companionship to maintain social engagement

Are you a caregiver who could use a helping hand? Contact Griswold Home Care at (877) 268-3277 to learn more about respite care services.

A Brief Respite is a Welcome Relief

As a family caregiver, there will be days when you and your family will be tested. This is common for all caregivers, especially when they are looking after their own loved ones. In some cases, people are taking care of both children and elderly parents at the same time, introducing an extra layer of challenge many are not prepared for. When you find yourself “sandwiched” between these two caregiving roles, you may welcome a small break from your responsibilities. At Griswold Home Care, we refer caregivers who can take over the responsibility for as little or as much time that you need to recover or recharge.

Short term respite care comes in different forms. Sometimes, you will simply need assistance for a few hours a day, a few times a week. Other times, you may require overnight relief so that you can get a restful night’s sleep. Many of our clients will contact us for emergency respite care when something else requires their attention last-minute. Respite care isn’t at all about “passing off” your caregiving responsibilities – it’s about recognizing the need for the right balance for you and your family.

Always Adapting to Your Changing Needs

Griswold Home Care has over 40 years of experience and is a pioneer in the non-medical home care industry. We have referred caregivers to countless families throughout the years and fully understand that the needs you have today won’t necessarily be your needs in the future. As you or your loved ones age, it often requires adjustments to care plans. You may simply need a few hours of respite care today, but in the future, you may need more. Office staff will be happy to speak with you regarding adjustments to a care plan as is necessary.
