Respite Care Services
We Provide Family Caregivers the Break They Need
Caring for an elderly or disabled loved one is a heroic act that deserves a break from time to time. Griswold Home Care is proud to provide respite care to assist family caregivers of seniors, disabled adults, and adults with other special needs. This care is designed to help the family caregiver recharge, both physically and emotionally, in order to avoid burnout. Caring for someone else can be quite overwhelming. Everyone needs time to recover and focus on themselves. Our respite care services are designed to give them that much-needed break.
Our respite care provides a temporary break and can last anywhere from a few hours a day to overnight. Some common non-medical tasks caregivers can help with include:
- Assistance with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and hygiene
- Preparing meals
- Accompanying clients to the grocery store or doctor’s appointments
- Assistance with running errands
- Companionship to maintain their social engagement
A Brief Respite is a Welcome Relief
As a caregiver, there will be days when you and your family will be tested. This is common for all caregivers, especially when they are looking after their own family members. In some cases, people are taking care of both children and elderly parents. When you find yourself “sandwiched” between these two caregiving roles, you will certainly welcome a small break from your responsibilities. At Griswold Home Care, we provide caregivers to take over the responsibility for a little while.
Short term respite care comes in different forms. Sometimes, you’ll simply need assistance for a few hours a few times a week. Other times, you may require overnight relief so that you can get a full night’s sleep. Many of our clients will contact us for emergency respite care when something else requires their attention last-minute. Griswold Home Care is always here to assist you in any capacity. Respite care isn’t at all about “passing off” your caregiving responsibilities – it’s about recognizing the need for the right balance for you and your family.
Always Adapting to Your Changing Needs
Griswold Home Care has more than 40 years of experience and is a pioneer in the non-medical home care industry. We have assisted countless families throughout the years and fully understand that the needs you may have today won’t necessarily be your needs in the future. As your loved ones age, they often require adjustments to their care plans. You may simply need a few hours of respite care today, but in the future, you may prefer more. Our office staff will be happy to adjust your care plans accordingly.
