Last week, I attended Griswold Home Care’s 36th Anniversary celebration. It was great to get together with fellow caregivers and the staff at the office. Because of the nature of caregiving, we don’t get the opportunity to gather together very often. We really made the best of this opportunity!
When I arrived, I was immediately welcomed and brought on a tour of the office. Two members of the office walked me down a hallway with a visual history of the company. I’ve been with Griswold Home Care since Jean Griswold started the company. It was nice to reminisce about the past and see some familiar faces. I was featured at the end as well for winning the 35th Anniversary Caregiver Achievement award!
I grabbed some breakfast and joined a game of bingo. There were a few more games of bingo and jeopardy throughout the day. We won some great prizes, including gift cards, water bottles, pens, and bags!
As caregivers arrived throughout the day, the Director of our office, Michelle Still, paused to hand out certificates to us and thank us for the work that we do. Her kind words were appreciated, and everyone seemed very happy. I know I was.
Before lunch began, we heard some speeches from the leaders of the company and some local leaders in the community. They all spoke very highly of caregiving. It was nice to hear that our work is being recognized as the important work that it is.
Lunch was delicious, and the staff from the office as well as the corporate office joined us. There were so many interesting people, and they all truly seem passionate about helping others. It’s so important for people at the top to understand why we do what we do. I’m proud to be a part of an organization that lives their purpose every single day.
Before I left, I made sure to stop by their photo booth to be transported to Paris. I’m looking forward to what they will come up with next year!
