Home Care in Lake County, IL

A Licensed Home Services Placement Agency

Hello, I’m Michele Running, Director of your local Griswold Home Care office in Illinois.  My husband and I reside in Lake County and have 5 children, most of whom are active in the business.  We have been doing foster care since 1999, and have cared for over 20 foster children ranging in age from 2 weeks to 18 years. I opened the local office in 2002 and was drawn to the home care industry after I witnessed the difficulty that my grandmother had arranging affordable and quality elder care when she needed it. Jean Griswold’s philosophy of “people before profits” really resonated with me and I take that to heart daily.  After 16 years in the business, although I was a healthy, active, non-smoker,  I was diagnosed with advanced, metastatic lung cancer.  I am now fortunate to serve as an advocate for patients with cancer; and proud to work for a company that helps the elderly and disabled members of my community remain safe, independent and well cared for in their homes.

Meet the other members of our office:

Kathy Guzman, Office Manager, has experience with Anger Management and Coping/Adjustment Support Groups for nursing home residents who suffered mental illness. She spent 5 years as the Social Services Director/Abuse Neglect Prohibition Coordinator in a skilled nursing facility. Kathy has always enjoyed the company of seniors and providing senior care, as they have so much to share. Kathy continues to be an advocate for seniors and assists the elderly in her community by organizing outreach programs aimed to enhance the quality of life for nursing home residents. She has volunteered through an interfaith outreach agency to support and provide assistance to low-income seniors in the community and for a drop-in center for homeless adults.

KalliKalli Running is a 2016 graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health. She is passionate about the environment and helping people. She spent her last summer in college volunteering in Tanzania building a new school within the local community. She has worked with Griswold Home Care since high school, and during breaks throughout college. Kalli’s responsibilities include recruiting, screening, and vetting qualified caregivers; maintaining client and caregiver files to meet all Illinois Department of Public Health, Department of Labor, and internal quality and compliance standards; migration to a new computer software system, and general administrative duties.

Hailey Keating is a 2017 graduate of the University of Kansas Medical Center with a degree in Health Information Management and is a Registered Health Information Administrator.  She has been involved in the family business since its inception in 2002.  She started out cleaning the office, filing, and assembling brochures and information packets.  Since graduating she has taken a more active role in the business and is involved in scheduling, file maintenance, accounting, and general office organization among other tasks.

Nancy Alongi, the Referral Coordinator, brings a wealth of personal and professional experience as she assists our clients and caregivers. Her contributions as an ElderCARE volunteer and helping multiple family members for many years with care has provided her with insight into challenges faced by caregivers and seniors. Nancy calls on her compassionate nature and background in healthcare management as she assesses client needs, connects them with caregivers, and assists with the company’s networking and marketing. Her commitment to ensuring accessible care for everyone also led her to complete professional development seminars on Alzheimer’s and Dementia and prompted her to volunteer at Love INC—an organization focused on connecting neighbors in need with resources that can help them move forward.

Office dogs Lucy and Avery greet everyone who visits the office with a bark and tail wag!

Griswold Home Care Offices are licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health as Home Services Placement Agencies and by the Illinois Department of Labor as Private Employment Agencies. Offices do not set rates for the screened caregivers they refer. As general information, however, Griswold Home Care periodically conducts market surveys in the area that the Office serves to ascertain typical market rates that caregivers charge, and makes that information available to all parties. Only caregivers who have passed Griswold Home Care’s rigorous and proprietary background screening system are eligible for client referrals.
