Care Pairing Resources in Rochester, NY
Rochester’s residents and visitors enjoy a wide variety of recreational and cultural amenities to sharpen their minds, engage their interests and recharge their psychological batteries.
Griswold Care Pairing for Greater Rochester’s referred caregivers can help every type of client: the active and the passive, the solitary and the communal. Activities may include neighborhood walking tours, organized hikes along the river gorge, and an extensive system of trails and scenic overlooks for solitary walks and jogs.
Rochester boasts a Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rochester International Jazz Festival, and the Garth Fagan School of Dance. Musicians and actors perform almost every night of the year on stages large and small, from the Downstairs Cabaret to the Rochester Broadway Theatre League.
More than a dozen world-class museums call our city home, including the George Eastman House, an international museum of photography and film, the Strong Museum of Play, one of the world’s best children’s museums, and the Memorial Art Gallery, an art museum of The University of Rochester. The Rochester Red Wings Triple A baseball team and the Rochester Americans, our American Hockey League team are the crown jewels of a professional sports team inventory that also includes basketball, lacrosse, arena football, and soccer.
We are also actively involved with the
Jean Griswold Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) private foundation established in 2010, which provides grants
to select community programs that help people age in place. In 2019, we
presented a $500 grant to
Greater Rochester Area Partnership for the Elderly (GRAPE) to help the organization update and expand The Elder Pages – the
organization’s online database that provides information on local
support services for seniors, including food and nutrition programs, rehabilitation
services, home support providers, and transportation services. GRAPE is
a nonprofit comprised of professionals, students, and other volunteers
that provide and advocate for improved health care and independent living
services in the greater Rochester region.
