Meet Our Team
Christine Friedberg – Owner and Director
I am Christine Friedberg and I am privileged to be the Director of the Griswold Home Care Office in Northern Virginia East. I live in Alexandria with my husband, Mike, our daughter and twin toddlers.
While growing up in the DC metro area, I was raised to believe in service. As a minister’s daughter, serving those in my community is thoroughly ingrained in my values. I was initially exposed to senior care and home care through my grandmother’s special caregiver – a woman she called her “Angel.” “Angel” was full of compassion and provided my grandmother with the care and companionship that my family could not provide long-distance.
As fate would have it, I was brought back to the idea of home care as a relationship manager with a franchise consulting and research company. I quickly realized that Griswold Home Care was an industry leader, and I made a career change because I wanted to help families like my own. My team and I can help your family whether you need a few hours of respite care or full-time live-in care.
Stephanie Scharnweber – Assistant Director
With a background in hospice care, I learned firsthand the comfort and sense of peace people gain from being able to remain in their own homes. Sharing that experience with clients and families earlier in their lives is one of the major reasons I switched to working in home care.
Stephanie Greenham – Office Support Specialist
Hello, my name is Stephanie Greenham and I feel very fortunate to be part of the Griswold family. The work we do here is very special and the compassion we show for not just the clients, but our caregivers as well is truly amazing.
I grew up in the Alexandria area and currently live in the Old Town section of this great city. I am currently overseeing care for my aging parents so very much understand what families are going through, and how they worry about leaving their loved ones at home by themselves. With an agency like Griswold Home Care, we can take that heavy burden off the shoulders of the families and give them a piece of mind that the people they love the most in the world are in good hands.
Connie Ryan – Manager of Caregiver Operations
As the Manager of Caregiver Operations, I have the opportunity to work with and meet so many fantastic and compassionate people. With a background of working with small businesses and non-profits, I have a passion for working with people who go above and beyond the usual 9 to 5 job and who enjoy working for something bigger than themselves. After experiencing my grandparents’ aging process, I discovered the power of assisting people in their homes and the benefits of in-home care. Now I get to be a more active part of that process for so many people and I am honored to be a part of the Griswold community.
Kristen Banks- Care Coordinator
Originally from the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, my husband and I relocated to NoVA a few years ago. With a degree in Psychology and a background in property management, I had no clear direction on where I would head next. I only knew I wanted to work somewhere I could be hands-on in the community, helping those in need.
Being new to the home-care industry at the time, but now having grown with Griswold for the last few years, I learned quickly that what we do runs so much deeper than just “helping the elderly population”. Each day we wake up with the purpose and determination to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of the community we serve. As a Care Coordinator, it is my responsibility to oversee the day-to-day details of care services and scheduling as it relates to client and caregiver relations/needs. I also manage and facilitate GHC’s contract with the City of Alexandria Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS). Through this contract, we provide daily and weekly shower visits and homemaking services to low-income seniors and older adults.
I am honored to be a part of the Griswold family and look forward to continuing my professional development and growth here with my great teammates at GHC Nova East.
Julia Wilson- Director of Nursing
As Director of Nursing, I am dedicated to ensuring your loved one and your family receive the best care from our team of exceptional caregivers. I will be working with you to create your service plan as well as overseeing the care that our caregivers provide to you.
Living far from my own aging parents, I understand many of the challenges we encounter along the way to ensuring the best care possible for our loved ones. I look forward to meeting and getting to know you and your family, learning your story, making a connection, and helping you work through the challenges of changing needs.
Claire Wood – Nurse
I love being part of the Griswold team! As an RN with over 30 years’ experience working with families in clinical, public health and community-based programs, I am dedicated to ensuring compassionate and excellent care for all members of the family. It’s my pleasure to assist both families and caregivers through Griswold’s quality home care program.
Jackie Waxman – On-Call Coordinator
As the On-Call Coordinator, I have the opportunity to work with both clients and caregivers in times of calm and in times of crisis. With a background in counseling and public administration, I have a passion for genuinely helping people. In the not so recent past, I watched my dad age, quickly deteriorate and ultimately rapidly pass. My dad’s number one goal was to remain in his home, a point of such pride for him, for as long as possible (aka ever). Working for a company that allows clients to remain in their homes for as long as possible only makes sense for me.
