Meet Our Team
Christine Friedberg – Owner and Director
I am Christine Friedberg and I am privileged to be the Director of the Griswold Home Care Office in Northern Virginia East. I live in Alexandria with my husband, Mike, our daughter and twin toddlers.
While growing up in the DC metro area, I was raised to believe in service. As a minister’s daughter, serving those in my community is thoroughly ingrained in my values. I was initially exposed to senior care and home care through my grandmother’s special caregiver – a woman she called her “Angel.” “Angel” was full of compassion and provided my grandmother with the care and companionship that my family could not provide long-distance.
As fate would have it, I was brought back to the idea of home care as a relationship manager with a franchise consulting and research company. I quickly realized that Griswold Home Care was an industry leader, and I made a career change because I wanted to help families like my own. My team and I can help your family whether you need a few hours of respite care or full-time live-in care.
Stephanie Scharnweber – Assistant Director
With a background in hospice care, I learned firsthand the comfort and sense of peace people gain from being able to remain in their own homes. Sharing that experience with clients and families earlier in their lives is one of the major reasons I switched to working in home care.
Collette Major- Manager of Care Coordination
After my grandmother’s cancer and our experience with hospice, I was deeply moved by what it means to give an individual the support they need during times of transition or illness, or just the aging process in general. I joined Griswold because I wanted to be able to bring the knowledge gained through these experiences, combined with my education to do the same for our clients and their families. I believe that building strong teams of caregivers combined with the support of a family, can bring a loved one an incredible network of support and compassion when they may need it most. I look forward to bringing you and your loved one an amazing experience with our organization and our caregivers.
Connie Ryan – Manager of Caregiver Operations
As the Manager of Caregiver Operations, I have the opportunity to work with and meet so many fantastic and compassionate people. With a background of working with small businesses and non-profits, I have a passion for working with people who go above and beyond the usual 9 to 5 job and who enjoy working for something bigger than themselves. After experiencing my grandparents aging process, I discovered the power of assisting people in their homes and the benefits of in-home care. Now I get to be a more active part of that process for so many people and I am honored to be a part of the Griswold community.
Kristen Banks- Care Coordinator
Originally from the Hampton Roads area, I currently live in Alexandria with my husband of two years. When I am not working with clients, caregivers and the staff at Griswold Home Care, I am crocheting, lifting weights, or reading a good book.
Julia Wilson- Director of Nursing
As the Director of Nursing, I am dedicated to ensuring your loved one and your family receive the best care from our team of exceptional care givers. I will be working with you to create your service plan as well as overseeing the care that our caregivers provide to you. I look forward to meeting and getting to know you and your family!
After taking time out of professional nursing to partner in my husband’s overseas career and raise our children, I am happy to be back and doing my favorite thing: learning your story, making a connection, and helping you work through the challenges of changing needs. A long-displaced Washington state native, I find my eyes instinctively scanning the horizon for snow-capped mountains. I enjoy bicycling, gardening, pottery, and am president of my neighborhood association.
I am privileged to be able to use my skills and experience to serve the Northern Virginia community and most importantly the wonderful clients of Griswold.
Claire Wood – Nurse
I love being part of the Griswold team! As an RN with over 30 years’ experience working with families in clinical, public health and community based programs, I am dedicated to ensuring compassionate and excellent care for all members of the family. It’s my pleasure to assist both families and caregivers through Griswold’s quality home care program.
Jackie Waxman – On Call Coordinator
As the On Call Coordinator, I have the opportunity to work with both clients and caregivers in times of calm and in times of crisis. With a background in counseling and public administration, I have a passion for genuinely helping people. In the not so recent past, I watched my dad age, quickly deteriorate and ultimately rapidly pass. My dad’s number one goal was to remain in his home, a point of such pride for him, for as long as possible (aka ever). Working for a company that allows clients to remain in their home for as long as possible only makes sense for me.
