Our Story

When Arthur and Frieda are asked “Why home care?” their response is always “It’s a God thing.” In 2007, shortly before taking early retirement from Bank of America, Arthur and Frieda took a close look at their strengths, experiences, and passions. Within a week, they decided that care pairing and elder care was a great fit for them. They were convinced once they heard founder Jean Griswold’s story. They admired and wanted to emulate her faith, values, and commitment to referring hourly and live-in caregivers to provide the best possible senior care and disability care in the most affordable way.

For over 50 years, Frieda’s father served as a Baptist minister. She had many opportunities to visit church members in their homes, in hospitals, and in nursing facilities with him. Many times, she spent time with members who had just been discharged from the hospital and needed some extra assistance while their family was working. Between her sophomore year in college and transferring to nursing school, she worked as a nursing assistant in a skilled facility. The joy she got out of working with those residents carried through nursing school, where she was honored with the Barbara K. Morey Humanitarian Award for her work with her patients.

Over the next 30 years, Frieda practiced her craft in 3 hospital settings from Virginia Beach to Richmond to Tampa. She served as a charge nurse in each hospital, helping patients and also managing the other RNs, LPNs, and CNAs on the floor. On the personal side, during the 1990s she watched her parents and their siblings care for her grandparent. Their dedication as caregivers inspired her, and she realized that being able to age at home is a special blessing. These experiences make Frieda uniquely qualified to oversee our caregiver screening, referral coordination, and client satisfaction.

Arthur is in charge of the financial and marketing aspects of the business. He spent many a Sunday afternoon surrounded by his grandparents and great grandparents. He was well-versed in the aging process long before he and Frieda opened their office because of these experiences.

Arthur’s degree in economics with a secondary focus on business and finance and his 30 years of experience in banking are just the beginning of what he contributes to the business. He has worked with physician practice groups, hospitals, and medical schools (one of his clients rolled out one of the first assisted living facilities in Virginia Beach). His experience in these areas has provided him with an empathetic view of health care providers and clients alike.

He has spent the last 12 years building a vast network of resources in Hillsborough County and gained the reputation as one of the “go to” people for information on senior issues. Two of the groups he has worked with in the past are the SALT Council and Better Living for Seniors. Arthur served as Vice Chairman of the SALT Council (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) for over five years. That group was made up of representatives from area law enforcement, the West Central Area Agency on Aging (now called the Senior Connection Center) and various non-profit and other government entities supporting the senior community. They met monthly, discussing issues that affect senior citizens and sharing best practices. Arthur was the Chairperson for Better Living for Seniors from 2016-2018. That group is under the umbrella of the Senior Connection Center (Area Agency on Aging) and is focused on educating the member businesses and assisting them in their senior advocacy efforts.

Whether directly or via the Jean Griswold Foundation, the Moseley’s also contribute a percentage of their income back to the community. Last year the Tampa Office for Griswold Care Pairing celebrated its first 10 years in business with a series of giving activities targeted at organizations serving seniors and the disabled. Included among the recipients were: Meals on Wheels, Faces of Courage and H.O.P.E. (cancer), Cindy’s Pets (pet food for low income seniors), both the Tampa and Pasco Lighthouses for the Visually Impaired and Blind, and Gulfside Hospice & Pasco Palliative Care.
