National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month was founded by The Alzheimer’s Association in 1980 in order to increase disease awareness, raise funds for research and support those affected by this disease. Alzheimer’s disease is a type of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Today, an estimated 5.4 million people are currently living with Alzheimer’s.
