The Pensacola, Ft Walton, and Destin communities offer a variety of activities, social events, and support for seniors, adults with disabilities, and retirees. We refer caregivers who are there to provide home care and help people remain living in their own homes, but that certainly doesn’t mean you have to stay at home! Griswold Home Care’s staff is very knowledgeable about activities in the areas. We are happy to refer caregivers to provide transportation and assistance to those wishing to visit historical sites, museums, a weekly bingo game, church groups, classes for seniors at the community college, and many other adventures and outings the area has to offer.
For those wishing to stay home, or who are unable to go out, we can refer professional caregivers who are happy to participate and facilitate activities at home such as gardening, games, bingo, and movie nights.
We are also actively involved with the Jean Griswold Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) private foundation established in 2010, which provides grants to select community programs that help people age in place. In 2019, we presented a $500 grant to Community Health Northwest Florida to help the organization purchase diabetic testing strips for low-income patients who may not be able to afford them on their own. Community Health offers a wide range of health care services to medically-underserved residents, including primary care, specialty physician care, x-rays, screenings and pharmacy assistance programs.
