November means that the holidays are just around the corner. And with the holidays come visits from friends and relatives that you and your senior parent may not have seen since the holidays last year. Seniors will want to look their best before the holidays so that they can feel confident and good about themselves during holiday celebrations.

Your senior parent may not want to ask you for help with personal care. It can be awkward and embarrassing for seniors to ask their grown children to help them. Personal care at home for seniors is a fantastic solution for seniors who need a little extra help with personal tasks and don’t want to ask their children.

Personal care at home also means that your senior parent will get the help they need from someone that is trained to work with seniors of all sizes and can safely help them get into the shower or help them get out of bed to get dressed. With personal care at home seniors can do these 4 things that will get them ready for holiday visits from friends and family:

Shaving

If your senior dad or grandfather has been growing out a beard or moustache for most of the last year they will probably want to get trimmed up or even clean-shaven before guests start coming into town for the holidays. A trained caregiver can help your senior parent or grandfather shave their beard or moustache or at least get it washed and trimmed nicely so that they look well-groomed and put together. They may even be able to get a little hair trim up if they need it.

Manicures and Pedicures

If your senior parent doesn’t want to go to the nail salon to get their nails done a caregiver can give them a mini manicure and pedicure at home. A paraffin wax treatment, removing old nail color, and applying new hair color to their feet and hands can all be done at home. With some festive polish on their nails and a fresh pedicure to make walking and standing easier your senior loved one will be ready for all those holiday parties and visitors.

Picking Out Holiday Outfits

Now is the time for seniors to go through their holiday clothes and see what they have. With the help of a caregiver seniors can try on the clothes they have and get ready to replace what doesn’t fit. Changing clothes is difficult for many seniors but with the help of a caregiver it will be much easier for seniors to try on clothes and pick out some holiday outfits.

Skin Care

Winter cold and indoor dry air can make dry skin worse. A caregiver can help seniors wash their faces daily with a gentle moisturizing soup. They can also help your senior parent apply face cream so that their skin is smooth and hydrated and looks great.
