Herm and Mary Carter Eick (pronounced “ike”) own and operate Griswold In Home Care, serving the greater Orlando area including Winter Park, Lake Mary and surrounding Central Florida cities. They each possess long-held, special affinities for the elderly and disabled and are active members of the community they live in. Herm and Mary Carter also have strong family ties to military service members and a desire to provide care to veterans in need. They have been blessed with family member longevity and have endless anecdotes and memories about treasured times spent with great grandparents, grandparents, parents, aunts, and uncles. Because of these relationships, they are aware of the many challenges facing seniors.
Mary Carter (“MC”) is a particularly caring individual. A life-long Orlando resident, she is passionate about her community and the people who live in it. She was a member of the Junior League of Greater Orlando for 13 years, holding various leadership positions. She worked on developing community programs and chaired fundraisers to benefit those programs. MC also participated in the Leadership Orlando initiative, sponsored by the Orlando Chamber of Commerce.
From an early age, Herm had exposure to senior care through his mother’s private duty and nursing home assignments. In early adulthood, Herm learned first-hand the impact of in-home care, as his parents fostered three of their parents. The honor and respect provided to those elders, along with the obvious benefits of their in-home care, made a lasting impression.
Herm and MC chose to leave their respective 25+ year business careers for the express purpose of establishing their own business, specifically one that would make a difference in other peoples’ lives! Following extensive research, Griswold Home Care clearly stood above all others. Both were touched by the Jean Griswold story and embraced her notion of referring caregivers who provide the best possible care in the most affordable way to support family and loved ones. The Eicks made it a point to incorporate their professional expertise into their in-home care business, as evidenced by their emphasis on proven practices and on building a sense of team purpose and clearly defined objectives, incorporating quality principles, and focusing on customer service and client satisfaction.
It’s a fact that the issue of care options and affordability are increasingly under discussion—even in MC and Herm’s families, where all four of their parents are approaching 80! MC and Herm are genuinely excited to be part of the solution for the issues facing the generations that preceded them. They believe strongly that everyone in need deserves quality care in their own homes whenever possible as well as the utmost dignity and respect in the delivery of that care.
